On December 9, 2023, Middle Tennessee was struck by a devastating tornado outbreak, leaving six people dead and dozens injured. The tornadoes ripped through several counties, including Davidson, Montgomery, and Sumner, causing widespread damage and leaving many families without homes. The Path of Destruction: The first tornado touched down in Clarksville, Montgomery County, around 5:00 PM CST. The twister carved a path of destruction through the city, damaging homes and businesses. Three people were killed in Clarksville, including a child. Another tornado struck the Nashville suburb of Madison, Davidson County, shortly after 6:00 PM CST. This tornado also caused significant damage, including the collapse of a sports complex roof. Three people were killed in Madison. Additional tornadoes were reported in Sumner County and other parts of Middle Tennessee, but the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
